I came into this class expecting it to be just something I had to get through or check off to continue on with my degree. I did not expect to learn much either, but I was wrong. I have taken this class and I honestly think that it has helped me. I have learned new concepts and refreshed my memory on old ones. The departmental policies made it mandatory for the person who was unable to clear the levelling exam before fall semester. I was unable to clear levelling exam so I enrolled for COSC construction scheduling in spring semester and successfully cleared the course with a letter grade C.
The department of Construction Science has changed its policies and procedures since then from Fall , there are no more levelling exams taken for graduate students now. I would request Aggie Honor System office to please check the policies of the department of Construction Science for graduate students and make a decision regarding sanction to be imposed on. However, MJC doesn 't provide a writing test to their assessment. I wanted to take English last semester to practice writing, but all of the classes were full.
Instead, I took 15 units of other courses last semester, and managed to practice writing. Though, I did not expect non-English courses to be heavy in writing. Instead of paying extra money to take English, I thought I would just take English and work extra hard to be successful. My problem with the literacy narrative is that I can 't write about myself. I guess it 's because I 'm embarrassed I 'm only starting college now, and have realized I 've been neglected in life.
Whatever it is, I just can 't write about myself in my literacy narrative if I have to share it in class. It 's just not the way I was raised. I wasn 't raised to share my problems to my family. If I have a problem, I have to solve it myself. If it 's just for you to grade, I think I can manage. I have a low confidence in myself since this is my first English class. I feel like one of those rescued lab animals seeing light for the first time. How can I write my literacy narrative If I can 't put myself in my writing? Before this quarter started I was fairly confident that I had what it took to ace English After the first paper, I realized I was mistaken. Throughout this quarter I have had numerous problems with my writing that proved I needed to do a little more studying to help take my writing to the college level. Although I did not fail any of my papers, there was plenty of room for improvement. All the areas I needed to improve on are all areas that I think every English student should know. I believe that every student at the college level should know how to cite sources correctly, know how to use good transitions, and know how to properly elaborate their examples.
The first thing I did when I found out how we were going to cite our papers was go to Easybib to have the website to it for me. Turns out Easybib wants you to pay them if you want your sources cited in APA format. Once I found that out I scoured the web to find a website that could do it for me. I could not find a dependable site anywhere so I had to go look in the english book on how to cite. When I got to the section on citing sources in my book I realized that this is where I should have went right from the start. The book had every type of citation you would ever have to use. But even after I found out how to properly cite my sources, it was still another question for me …show more content… I feel that in most of my papers my examples could have been explained or delved into deeper than what I actually did.
It is not good enough to find a great example and just put it in your paper. You have to explain why it is such a great example and then elaborate on why it fits your point of view on the subject so well. I feel that my papers had some pretty good examples that I found with some pretty heavy research into the topic. But once I found that example and realized where I wanted it in my paper, I found out that I could not explain some of them as well as I thought I could when I found them.
Therefore some of my papers had an example or two that maybe did not go so well with the rest of the examples. Because of that, the paper slacked off a little when the reader would get to that example and would leave them trying to figure out if the example fit or not. I would like to say that you can have a bad example and explain it perfectly so that it fits your paper like a glove. But on the other hand you could have the best example ever. So good that you think that it was made specifically for your paper, and then you could butcher the elaboration and leave your reader wondering why you would put that in your. Get Access.
